FIREFIGHTER’S WORDS -194- OUR HERO
My daddy is a hero once again.
A new day will soon begin.
He saved another life.
Today he showed his bravery,
he went into a burning building.
With all the smoke detectors ringing.
Angry fire roaring out the windows,
the fire his only foe.
The smoke following it.
The roof caving in, the floor falling away,
but he went in anyway.
He and his crew,
trying their best to extinguish this colored monster
and her witches brew.
The fire creeping upon new places to consume.
The only peaceful light comes from the moon.
No one forces him to go, and he never says no.
He does it willingly, knowing his possiable doom.
The explosions below him going boom.
Knowing that he risks his life.
He comes home after every tour to his childeren and his wife.
Knowing that he did a good job today, and he knows he is here to stay.
And when his tour is done, he knows that his dad is proud of his son.
He gives us hugs and kisses every night, knowing that the alarm will ring again,
to fight another fight.
