I’m on a volunteer dept and i couldn’t ask for a better group of guys. Majority of us grew up together and those who didn’t grow up with us still are like brothers… I am the only female on my station so you can imagine how often i get picked on! lol.. I love how we all just sit around laughing our heads off but when that pager goes off, immediately our game face is on, we get 100% focused, and get things done…The biggest fire i was on was the fire in Silver City.. it was about 900 acre fire and a brother from Silver City lost his life due too a heart attack on scene.. 6 different departments fought this grass fire for over 24 hours…
Of course, there’s always the middle of the night medical calls that are always non emergency… Paid or Volunteer, we all gripe when we have to go at that hour, but we love what we do and that”s why we do it..
