FIREFIGHTER’S WORDS -184- MY HUSBAND’S LAST CALL
Before my husband passed away in 1995 he was a pump operator @ Bridge City Vol. Fire and Rescue Department. Before he passed we had a major car wreck and everyone showed up at the scene. Another tone was put out – they needed a truck — Well at this time cancer had taken over took my husband’s body. I got him to the station – picked him up and put him in cab of the truck. I drove the fire truck to the scene amd radioed en route to the wreck.
The eyes of the Chief and other fellow firemen were so beautiful when they saw Stanley in that truck. They all lifted him out of the truck and he operated his last call!
I was a member to the Ladies Auxiliary in this department for 20 years, but due to hurricane IKE, I lost everything in my home town. I live somewhere else, so I can no longer be in the Auxiliary, but I am The First Vice president of the District Ladies Auxiliary because I was married to a fallen firefighter. I will always be here for all of you.
